G.W. "Tabbi" Dorsey
Mrs. Tabbi Dorsey is an author that enjoys drawing readers into the lives and experiences of her characters. She believes that often times art imitates life and then on some rare occasions, life will imitate art. Mrs. Dorsey began writing as a teenager. Writing short stories and poems was the outlet for the creative spirit that kept her comfortably engrossed during the long hot Georgia summers.
As an adult and medical professional she began writing about issues that affected those around her, working with her and placed in her care. She is a southern girl who believes that books have a special place in our lives and that their content, characters and stories are meant to be a positive contribution to us and our world.
Tabbi is the happily married mother of four children, and two beautiful women that also call her mom. An amazing granddaughte and 4 amazing godchildren. She is grateful to her supportive husband and family, both natural and spiritual for the love, motivation and encouragement. She welcomes emails from her readers, although she often reminds us that she will not share spoilers.
Who is your ideal reader?
My ideal reader is anyone involved in a relationship, thinking about getting involved in a relationship; especially those between the ages of 18-45 because the factors that determine how we behave are not always of our own choosing. There are times when we make decisions based on the wrong factors and therefore leave ourselves open to things not conducive to healthy relationships.
Why the book? Tell me, why did you write this book?
We all need to become educated and more aware of the lives of the individuals affected by not just domestic violence by all types of violence, and to ensure those that are living this horrid existence that they are not alone and that there those of us who care.
Not only that we care, but that we plan to take an active role in helping to improve the awareness of the individuals on the periphery that are often just as impacted as those being abused and their abusers.
In my opinion it is so important that we all become educated and more aware of the lives of the individuals affected by not just domestic violence by all types of violence, and to ensure those that are living this horrid existence that they are not alone and that there those of us who care.
Are you active against DV? In which way?
The first issue is not to judge, but determine the true facts and help not hinder or escalate the situation. The problem is that our society follows whims and does not always implement true fact finding. There are to many events of sensationalizing situations for publicity or monetary gain instead of looking at the true cause and potential resolutions.

I spent time throughout my adolescent years volunteering with groups that supported those affected. I have been mentoring young women and men to assure that situations can be recognized for what they are and not glossed over to protect so called privacy.
Now I have begun writing, hoping to use my books as a platform to draw positive attention to gain more education and awareness. Finally, I am attempting to connect a group of individuals to form a collective to help these individuals gain a positive perspective on life.
How are you and your books a part of the solution?
I feel that violence, especially domestic violence is a problem that our society faces much like many others and should be addressed as one and urgently.

Solution:
The solution to the eradication is to educate everyone to its causes, its indicators and what encourages its continued existence. We must educate ourselves and choose positive ways to deal with stress, pain and frustration. The initial reaction to lash out or react violently has been ignored for far to long. In most instances ignoring a thing allows it to grow uninhibited and take on a life of its own. Hence we have allow domestic violence to grow to epic proportion, so much so that 1 in 4 women will die at the hands of their partner or spouse. Reading my books presents a different vantage point on this disease and reveals its long lasting effects and permanent scars. You can clearly see how the lives of these characters is impacted by the violence they both suffer and witness. This written work plainly exposes the hidden evils of doing nothing, ignoring the obvious and not getting involved. Therefore the solution, as I see it is to create an awareness, educate everyone to lasting effects this includes the abused, the abuser as well as the witness. Finally, to hopefully provide financial support to some of the organizations that provide help, safety and guidance to those in need.
